What's going on?

What's going on? You can't rush perfection! Have you heard of this famous saying? It has never been more relevant to me until this year, or to be precise this last few months of Honours. At this pace I'm going, please, as if I can go any faster anyway!

So can guys be more romantic than the male Bowerbirds?

i came across this wonderful creature in 'The A-Z Beauty of Australian Native Birds' article my tutor sent me *so solicitous & thoughtful of him*
i dont know why, but everything about birds seem ingeniously created and designed.
the way they take flight so poise it looks almost effortless.
the way their skeletons are put on best shape and stability that even airplanes are built resembling every inch of them.
they have long intrigued zoologists, making them one cool mechanism to learn about.
and this dude, is no exception.

the name 'Bowerbird' itself already tickles my curiosity.
because as far as i know, 'bower' in ancient architecture means a woman's private chamber.
and so i continued reading, ended up comparing this romantic bird lad and human 'human' lad.
hoho, saya kecewa. LOL.

anyways, these are what the male birds do.
in mating season, they will build large elaborate structures (which is what zoologists are referring to as the 'bower') of grasses, twigs, and brightly colored materials on the ground to attract females. things such as the coloured stones, shells, feathers, flowers and other bright objects which are replaced when they become withered or worn, are used to decorate their bowers. these cute guys can spend hours carefully sorting and arranging their collection with each object in a specific place. to show how devoted they are in building the most attractive bower kan, if an object is moved while they are away, they will put it back in its place. since its a tough competition, no two bowers are the same, and the collection of objects reflects the personal taste of each bird and its ability to procure unusual and rare items (going as far as stealing them from neighboring bowers!! adorable and cheeky ;P).

the crestless gardener bowerbird, Amblyornis inornatus, even makes a lawn around its bower to suggest how beriya he is.
but nothing can beat this famous of all, The satin bowerbird Ptilonorhyncus violaceus who prefers blue decorative articles! suits my favourite colour :D

oh yes, upon completion, they will proudly display them by singing loudly above the bowers :)
and trust me, these boys are real born singers *heart melts*

have i told you they are loyal creatures as well in the previous post?

zam zam ala kaaa zaaaammmmmm~~~ jom jadi burung jom!

*correction: these birds are promiscuous, having active sexual life with different partners.
