I got this message sent to my email and it's a shame not to spread it around.
Global warming has been intensely debated by those concerned and if, IF we can just try to double up that concerned population, we'll be one step closer to reducing the carbon emission worldwide.
A main article up close in March issue of the National Geographic magazine tells us a story of the healthier-life trial done by the author Peter Miller himself and his wife at their home. They switched from driving to walking/cycling to the deli, they aired their clothes outside and yes, turned off any unused electrical appliances instead of keeping them on standby mode.

"Thermographic photography offers clues to where energy is being wasted in this older house in Connecticut. Red and yellow patches indicate escaping heat, while new double-pane windows appear cool blue. By sealing in warmth, the windows cut heating costs, which can account for up to half a family's energy bill"-Miller (2009)
"The red glow of warm adapter plugs shows they keep using power even when the appliances they're connected to are turned off —as much in a year, in some cases, as the appliances themselves."-Miller (2009)
After a month of keeping track with the electric meter to track down how much they used up a day (they did other things as well), it paid off to see all the stunts saved them $190 when they received the electric bill. His attempt is a proof that this, this worrying global issue can actually be tackled if all of us do our very small bit to save the earth.
And it starts at home.

* trust me, i dont bebel on this if it's not important. the more you read, the more you know youre actually running out of time.
2 popped bubbles:
Thank you Ami for bringing this up. Some people just don't see the importance of flicking that switch off. To them, what is a kilowatt to mother nature?
What's more heartbreaking is that some even accuse global warming as some government conspiracy/hi-fi agenda. Global warming is NOT politics, people! Because it makes perfect sense!
I guess they will stay blind until the aftermath come falling on their heads. They'll just wait until the day their children die without a home in front of their eyes.
Sorry, I get really upset just thinking about the planet. Sekian :)
Point taken, Nada.
Most people just dont seem to care because they cant feel the 'bang' yet. It takes time to educate people anyway.
Good thing is, the more you read articles and prevention methods to cope with global warming, it soothes you to know that these major countries are doing something. which is good.
Yang I geram, take the Canadian oil sand mining for example. They use the natural gas energy (which is the cleanest possible resource) to dig up those bitumens laying hundreds feet deep in the earth. And bitumens, you know laa how much impurities make up for the total gallons. NG puts it this way: Wasting Gold to dig up the Poison. But these people dont seem to care sbb that resource puts them second to the Saudi Arabia for energy resource export worldwide. Hish.
