Koala is that cute fluffy ball you find (if youre lucky enuf) up on the tree only around the eastern coast of Australia. Yes, fact 1: theyre not found all over OZ. They are fussy eaters, favouring only 50 species of eucalyptus leaves out of 600 species available here in total.
The saying spread around on koala getting drunk on these leaves are sooo not true ok? Eucalyptus leaves contain 50% water and only 5% sugars and starches. This is a low energy diet therefore they conserve their energy by sleeping about 19 hours a day, which makes them appear intoxicated to us, hence the drunk myth.
As these fellas are born arboreal which means 'living on trees', they rarely go down to the ground at all, unless... A) male chases female to mate and.... B) there are massive forest fire and that they got super dehydrated as in the most talked about Vicoria Fire picture where a koala was found drinking a bottle of water with help from that heroic fireman (i salute youuuu). This act contradicts with how the name Koala came into picture by the Aboriginals, that means 'no drink'.
Lastly, like us, diorang punnn ade fingerprints :)
